14-year-old Makenzy Beard

I had noticed an article the other day I was eager to cover about this 9 year old girl who’s name is Makenzy Beard, a 9 year pupil at Bishopston Comprehensive, who just recently started painting, no more than a year ago. And was amazed. Authentic talent.

A 14 year old free this.

This stunning portrait was painted by 14-year-old Makenzy Beard, a year 9 pupil at Bishopston Comprehensive, who only started painting a year ago. Her painting has beaten 33,000 submissions to be selected for a prestigious Royal Academy show for her beautiful portrait work.

Makenzy said: “I started painting in lockdown a year ago. It started as a little lockdown hobby and escalated from there really. I couldn’t believe it when I found out. I love art and this is a big achievement.”

The Young Artists’ Summer Show is a free exhibition for students aged five to 19 studying in the UK and British schools overseas. The painting is called John Tucker and is of a farmer from Makenzy’s local town of Oxwich.
